Welcome! This is the Cardston County Alberta website of the Canada GenWeb project. You are invited to explore the resources here using the menu above. Come back frequently as new resources are often added. If you don't see the menu or can't get it to work, you may have JavaScript turned off within your browser. You can also use more traditional links.

Cardston County was officially organized the 1st of January 2000 replacing the former Municipal District of Cardston Number 6 but the town of Cardston and the other communities in the new county have a much longer history. The purpose of this website is to help provide access to known records and research aids of value for those researching their Cardston County roots. Sometimes this will involve hosting records that have been transcribed or compiled. Other times it will involve linking to such records resident elsewhere on the Internet. Or it may just educate you about the location and availability of records that are NOT available on the Internet. As part of this process, and perhaps even more important than any specific records, we will attempt to improve your ability to connect with other researchers who share your ancestry or your geographic insterests. Your suggestions and help in this effort are always welcome.

The volunteer coordinator for this site is Mike St. Clair. Although I do not live in the area, I have deep roots in Cardston County. If you are aware of any Cardston-related resources that aren't directly reachable from this site, I'd like to hear about them. Your suggestions for improvement are always welcome. You can reach me at Coord@CardstonGenealogy.com.
